Akha Trails & River Adventure
An active, wet-footed day in the hills north of Chiang Mai — a stream hike out of an Akha village, then a bamboo raft down the Mae Teang River. The day starts at an Akha village, where the guide and the porter meet the group. From there it is roughly 3 km of hiking along a stream, crossing the water at several points, so feet will get wet — it is an active and refreshing way to see the green up close. At the river bank the bamboo rafts are waiting. The float down the Mae Teang takes one to two hours depending on the season: a slow, quiet way to leave the jungle before the drive back to the city. Activity level: moderate — suits nature lovers with basic fitness and a sense of adventure. Built for travellers who want eco-tourism, cultural contact and real adventure in the same day.

Meet at the Akha village
The guide and the porter meet the group at the Akha village.

Roughly 3 km of hiking along a stream, crossing the water at several points. Feet will get wet.
09:30Reach the river bank
Arrive at the Mae Teang River where the bamboo rafts are waiting.
12:00Bamboo raft on the Mae Teang River
Float downriver by bamboo raft, 1-2 hours depending on the season.
12:30Return to Chiang Mai
Head back to the city in the afternoon.
