Into the Highlands: Waterfall Village Trek
Two days in the high country, ending at a quiet Karen village where a hidden waterfall is the sound you fall asleep to. The route runs through high-altitude farms and forest trails, guided by the people who live on them. Day one drives out of the city with a stop at a local market, then climbs to Khun Wang for lunch with the whole valley in view. The afternoon trek covers about 6 km — not on a crowded path, but through gardens, flower fields and plantations of coffee and tea. The homestay sits right by a river, simple and beautiful, and guests are treated like family: a home-cooked dinner and stories of the mountains under the stars. Day two starts quietly, then takes a short drive to the trailhead of a waterfall almost nobody visits. After that, a short bamboo raft — an easy float, nothing to do but listen — before the drive back to Chiang Mai in the afternoon. Duration: 2 days, 1 night, roughly 8 hours of activity each day. Activity level: moderate — suits travellers with some trekking experience.
